COURSE DESCRIPTION

The aim of this 6 hour course is to equip the Christian to effectively engage in evangelism with Muslims through a deeper understanding of the Islamic Worldview. Muslims often raise polemical questions about the Bible, the nature of Jesus, and the origins and development of Christianity. This course discusses a response to those critical questions while assessing the origins and early development of Islam. The research has been peer-reviewed, and covers modern critical scholarship on the Biography of Muhammad, the six genres of Islamic historical tradition, as well as source and textual criticism of the Qur’an. Subjects in this course also include “Why Care about Muslims,” “How Muslims come to Christ,” “Jesus in Islam and Christianity,” and “A Guide to Finishing the Great Commission.”

This is our introductory class to the world of Islam and Christian ministry to Muslims. You will be introduced to the plans Islam has for the world, the Radical Muslims and the fundamentals of Islam. This class will is intended to whet your appetite for further studies in theology, Islamics, apologetics, and discipleship.

OBJECTIVES

At the completion of the class, the student will

1. To inculcate a desire to share Christ with Muslims.

2. To begin to understand the nature of Islam and it’s plans for the world.

3. To appreciate the necessity of apologetics and polemics for ministry to Muslims.

4. To begin to comprehend the differences between Islam and Christianity.

PROF. JOSHUA LINGEL

Joshua Lingel is the President and visionary leader of i2 Ministries. Currently, he is responsible for leading training in Muslim Ministry and Islamic Studies for a network of over 20,000 churches in Asia, Africa and South America. The goal of i2 is to provide each church and Christian the accessibility to all the training they need to finish the Great Commission among Muslims from voices of global Christianity.

Joshua Lingel was called into Muslim Ministry at age 18 when God spoke to him to study everything he could about Islam and since then train up the global church to target the Muslims in one generation. He has been involved in Muslim evangelism since 1991. Lingel attended six universities in Islamic Studies, including University of Washington, University of London, Harvard and Talbot School of Theology, in Muslim Ministry and Christian Theology, teaching at Biola University & Talbot School of Theology undergrad & graduate students in Christian Apologetics to Islam since 1999.

From 2003-2009 Joshua Lingel was co-founder and director of strategic projects with Ravi Zacharias International Ministries (RZIM),

He is married to Jussara Robert Lingel and together they lead i2 Ministries.

She also deals with some of the most common Muslim arguments against Christianity’s treatment of women and she will give you many great tools when navigating discussions concerning the treatment of women, Marriage, family, sexuality, and other topics.

Beth Grove was born and raised on the mission field, has lived among Muslim immigrant communities in London for 18 years, enjoying friendship and gospel conversations with close Muslim friends from many nations. After travelling through Muslim countries, she obtained a Master’s degree in Islamics and is one of the co-founders of the Pfander Centre for Apologetics, which is a research think-tank and teaching ministry to equip Christians worldwide to engage Islam with a confident Christianity.

Beth is one of the leading voices confronting Islam and standing for the truth of the scriptures and she will impart a true love for the Muslim people to the listener. This courses will be both practical and theological for anyone who seeks to reach Muslims with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

In this presentation, Prof. Beth Grove presents a comprehensive look at the historical situation of women in relationship to Islam. The course explores Mohammad’s relationship with women, including his many wives. The course also looks at the current Islamic views of women from both traditional and modern perspectives. Finally, Beth will share her personal experiences ministering to Muslim women. Through this course, we will take a look behind the veil of Islam. This 10 hour course is a comprehensive investigation on how women are treated theologically and pragmatically in Islam. Beth combines both her extensive personal experience Ministering to Muslim women and men as well as her robust theological training to give a very clear presentation of what progressive Muslims are claiming, what traditional Muslims are claiming and what she has encountered in real life situations.
