Chrislam: How Missionaries Are Promoting an Islamized Gospel

Edited by: Joshua Lingel, Jeff Morton and Bill Nikides

Are there missionaries who promote converts from Islam remaining in Islam? Is Islam the primary identity for a new believer and how does this identity interface with one’s deliverance from a false religion? Which rituals and phenomena of Islam may be given new meaning by converts? Is the Gospel of Jesus being Islamized by Western missionaries? This anthology of twenty-five essays approaches the various questions of the “insider movements” that are being raised within the mission community. Offering not only a critique of the problematic issues of IM and it’s proponents, Chrislam also provides a necessary corrective in the areas of theology, exegesis, translation, missiology and a theology of religions.

Two Messiahs

The Messiahs: The Jesus of Christianity and the Jesus of Islam

By: Jeff Morton

Is the Jesus of the Bible the Jesus of the Qur’an? What might happen if the Jesus of the Bible met the Isa al-Masih of the Qur’an? Would they recognize each other? What would they talk about? Two Messiahs is that story: a long walk from Emmaus to Jerusalem in which the central figure from Christianity walks with, talks with, argues and laughs with one of the most important prophets of Islam. When you finish the story you will know if the two Messiahs are the same person.

The Messenger

The Messenger, the Message and the Community

By: Roland Muller

Roland Muller’s first edition quickly sold out as Christian workers around the world snapped up copies. This book includes large parts of the out-of-print books Honor & Shame and Tools for Muslim Evangelism, plus much more. Muller begins by looking at what it takes to be accepted as a ‘messenger’ with something of value to say. He then moves on to look at the gospel message that we share, and ends up examining the community of believers that we want to gather. This book includes a frank look at shame- based cultures, and also the importance of building a sense of community into a new group of believers. Several chapters have been totally re-edited in this new edition. There are over 300 study questions for thought and discussion.

Through a thorough examination of the gospel accounts, Coleman points out unchanging, simple, yet profound biblical principles of how to emulate Christ to others.

The Life of Muhammad

By: I. Ishaq’s

This volume is quite possibly the most authoritative and historically accurate picture of Muhammad’s life, from birth to death. Translated into English in 1955, The Life of Muhammad is a work of enormous historical value.

Ibn Ishaq’s (d. 767AD) biography of Muhammad is the first known and earliest writing of the life of the prophet of Islam. However, none of Ibn Ishaq’s manuscripts exist. Ibn Hisham (d. 865AD) wrote this volume as a recension of a copy of Ibn Ishaq’s manuscript which he possessed. Ibn Hisham made editorial changes to Ishaq’s work, eliminating events and details he thought to be fictious, and adding important material he found to be missing in Ishaq’s work. The result is this classic work, which is a must-read for anyone interested in serious study of the founding of Islam in the seventh century.
